Home Visit Program
Meet with PALS (person with ALS) in their place of domicile for support and companionship.
Volunteer Night
One evening each month, volunteers are needed to assist in assembling our monthly
mailing, which goes to patients, family members, and caregivers. Volunteer night
is held from 5 to 7 PM at The ALS Association Greater New York Chapter's office
at 116 John Street in Manhattan.
Call Nights
Volunteers are occasionally needed in the office to call patients, family members,
and caregivers to alert them of upcoming events, such as "Ask the Experts" symposia.
Office Volunteers
Volunteers are needed during the work day to help with administrative tasks.
Recliner "Swaparoo" Program
"Swaparoo" is a program for people donating recliners to people with ALS. Volunteers
are needed to help make the swap possible by picking up and delivering recliners from the
donor to the patient. Reimbursement for a rental van will be provided, if needed.
Thanksgiving Care Basket Delivery
Volunteers with a car are needed throughout the month of November to deliver care baskets
to ALS caregivers. November is Caregiver Awareness Month.
Caregiver Awareness Month Thank You Cards
During the month of November (Caregiver Awareness Month) we need young children to prepare
hand made thank you cards to show our appreciation for ALS caregivers.
"Ask the Experts" Symposia
Each year, The ALS Association Greater New York Chapter hosts three "Ask the Experts"
symposia in New York City, Long Island, and New Jersey. Volunteers are needed at each
symposium to assist with event logistics.
Health Fair Representative
Throughout the year, volunteers are needed to attend corporate, federal, state, and municipal
employee health fairs throughout New York and New Jersey to distribute information and answer
questions about The ALS Association Greater New York Chapter. Training will be provided.
Fundraising Events
Throughout the year, The ALS Association Greater New
York Chapter hosts various fundraising events (i.e. Walk to D'Feet ALS and the Annual
Lou Gehrig Sports Awards Benefit). Volunteers are needed at each event to assist with event
