May is ALS Awareness Month!

May is ALS Awareness Month! We encourage PALS, family members, cargeivers and friends to do whatever they can to help spread ALS Awareness. Whether it's educating one person about ALS, attending an ALS event or writing a short letter to your local newspaper informing them of ALS Awareness Month, this is the time to reach out to your community and spread awareness!

Here are a few ways you can spread awareness with The ALS Association this month!

  • Attend a Walk to Defeat ALS! Sunday, May 4th will kick off the Chapter's Spring Season with the Woodbridge Walk. Two more Walks are held in May, including the Long Branch Walk on Saturday, May 10th and the INAUGURAL New York City Walk on Saturday, May 17th. To participate or for more information, visit www.alswalks.org or contact Courtney Bollman at bollman@als-ny.org or Kristina DeSantis Wertheimer at desantis@als-ny.org or call 800.672.855

  • Attend National ALS Advocacy Day in Washington, DC, or contribute by writing a letter! Write a letter to your U.S. Senator and Congressman, asking them to support The ALS Association and our legislative priorities. For more information about National ALS Advocacy Day or for a letter template, contact Kate McNamee at mcnamee@als-ny.org or 800.672.8857.

  • Enjoy a night at the theater. The Chapter is hosting a Theater Night on May 7th for "A Catered Affair." "In 1953, relationships are strained to the limit when a Bronx couple must choose whether to spend their life savings on a family business or to launch their only daughter's marriage with a lavish catered affair (www.playbill.com)." Tickets are $125, with $45.50 going to the Chapter. For more information, contact Courtney Bollman at bollman@als-ny.org or 800.672.8857. To view the event flyer, click here.

  • If you are a young professional and want to get involved, join the Chapter's Young Professionals Group at their Spring Fundraiser on May 8th. The event will be at Metro 53 in New York City from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Tickets are $55 in advance and $60 at the door. For more information or to purchase a ticket, click here or contact Kristina DeSantis Wertheimer at desantis@als-ny.org or 800.672.8857.
